Orillia mom and entrepreneur, Gillian Lowry, is about to realize a long-held dream by becoming a vendor at Toronto’s One of a Kind show, which takes place Nov. 25 through Dec. 5 at Exhibition Place in Toronto.
Lowry is the owner of LittleTigers, a business that creates fun, educational and novel colouring posters for children.
“This is a giant indoor market for Canadian makers, there is a juried selection process, it’s ticketed entry, and they have the capacity to have over 80,000 people through over the course of 10 days. So, this is a super high-profile Toronto show. It’s very exciting to get into,” she explained.
Lowry says she is excited to be considered among the top 400 creative exhibitors in Canada.
“When I was in university, I started going to the One of a Kind show with my mom and I was always so impressed with all the vendors there and all the artisans. It was always inspiring to see such great work, such creative people and products all in one space,” she said.
“When I applied, I felt that the timing was right and I felt really good about my chances of getting in,” she said.
During the first round of cuts, the 41-year-old was put on a ‘maybe’ list. She was just accepted for the event two weeks ago.
“I think this is great for my business, it raises the bar for me a little bit, and it gives me access to a whole new audience,” Lowry said.
“It’s been wonderful to be so well received in Orillia and it’s exciting to take it to a new market. I think for my goals for the business to grow, this is perfect and very exciting.”
Lowry and her LittleTigers products will be available at the Creative Market on Nov. 27 and 28 at Creative Nomad Studios in downtown Orillia.
