Thousands turned out Saturday at ODAS Park for the annual Orillia Fall Fair.
“Today is a perfect day for a fall fair,” said Erin Abbott, ODAS Park manager.
The event, which is in its 173rd year, featured attractions including inflatables for the kids, truck and tractor pulls, horse pulls, various farm machinery and animal displays, and much more.
“We’re having a blast. The kids are having fun. It’s a great day,” said Karmi Shami, who was there with his family.
A popular spot at the fair for teens and adults was the new display of custom tractor-trailers people could view and sit in. It was a crowd favourite right at the gates.
On the kids’ side, the popular attractions were the bouncy castle, as magician Frank Clarkson.
As usual, though, the demolition derby stole the show.
The fan favourite was the Super Mario-themed car, and once that was decided, the cars were ready to be smashed up. There were three individual car flips and rollovers that got the crowd going.
After the demolition, the hype continued with the aerobatic motocross bike team, flipping and performing stunts in the air on and off dirt bikes.
The key to a successful fair is volunteers, said Abbott.
“Volunteers are our life saver,” she said. “Without our hard-working and dedicated volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to put on this fantastic fair that happens every year.”
