Orillia goes green: St. Patrick’s Day festivities in full swing (7 photos)

Irish spirit can be felt in downtown Orillia today as locals celebrate St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick’s Day celebrations are in full swing this afternoon, with pubs already packed, live music blasting, and green beer flowing as locals and visitors alike gather to toast to the luck of the Irish.

Many downtown establishments are offering special St. Paddy’s Day menus, featuring everything from liver and onions to shamrock-themed cocktails.

But while the fun is flowing, Orillia OPP is reminding partygoers to celebrate responsibly.

“We want everyone to enjoy St. Paddy’s Day, but be responsible,” said Orillia OPP Const. Derek Tilley. “Pre-arrange rides, use ride-share programs, taxis, or have a designated driver. Officers will be out on the roads conducting patrols to ensure public safety.”

Tilley also offered some general safety reminders, urging people to never leave drinks unattended and to stick with friends while celebrating.

With festivities lasting well into the night, St. Patrick’s Day in Orillia is shaping up to be a memorable one.

Whether you’re sipping a pint, singing along to an Irish jig, or just soaking in the festive atmosphere, there’s no shortage of shenanigans to enjoy.
