Orillia hikers enjoy fall trek to Algonquin Park (3 photos)

Weather cooperated for a sunny day, cool temperatures, and a wonderful breeze at the top of the ridges,' said hike organizer

Autumn is a beautiful time for hiking. And Algonquin Park may be one of the best places on earth to enjoy the great outdoors.

Earlier this week, members of both the Orillia and Barrie Ganaraska Hiking Clubs joined forces for a trip east and enjoyed a hike on the Centennial Ridges Trail in Algonqin Park.

"The colours were delightful if a little subdued from last year for comparison," noted Carol Strickland, who organizes the local hikes.

The park was busy even though it was a weekday.

"Weather cooperated for a sunny day, cool temperatures, and a wonderful breeze at the top of the ridges," said Strickland.

Of note the beavers have been very busy repairing their dams, and the hikers marvelled at their skill.

There’s plenty more in the pipe for planned hikes this season. Visit the club's website, www.ganaraska-hiking-trail.org and look under “find a hike” for future hikes.
