NEWS RELEASE
MARCUS MATTINSON, MP CANDIDATE FOR SIMCOE NORTH
*************************
Marcus Réjean Mattinson, a bilingual communications professional from Orillia, announced his intentions to seek the Conservative Party of Canada nomination in Simcoe North.

Following Bruce Stanton’s retirement announcement earlier this year, the local Tories are seeking a new candidate in Simcoe North to represent the party in the next federal election.

“As a bilingual candidate with deep generational roots in the community and a decade of involvement in politics across Canada, I am proud to announce I will be seeking the nomination for the Conservative Party in Simcoe North,” Mattinson recently stated in a Zoom conference with supporters.

“COVID-19 has taken a heavy toll on communities across Canada, and ours is no exception. Our best chance to get our country back on track is to make Erin O’Toole our next Prime Minister," he said.

Mattinson, who recently launched a website in support of his campaign, outlined key priorities which include preserving and building on Bruce Stanton’s service model.

On this point Mattinson stated: “Simcoe North has been well-served for nearly 15 years by MP Bruce Stanton. Having had the opportunity to work at his constituency offices in Orillia and Midland, I know firsthand the importance of making sure we preserve these important services across the riding. If I am elected MP, I will build on this tradition of firstclass service and will ensure they are even more accessible to constituents and are offered in both official languages.”

In addition to experience working for Stanton, Mattinson has worked with numerous public office holders at all levels of government and has experience working in agri-food advocacy.

“I know how government works and have built a network spanning from coast to coast. If I have the honour to serve as MP, I’ll get to work on day one," he said.

Although the Party has yet to set a nomination date, where party members will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidate, residents of Simcoe North are encouraged to visit www.marcusmattinson.ca to learn more about the process, buy a party membership to vote and donate to the campaign.
