ORILLIA POWER GENERATION CORPORATION
*************************
The board of directors of Orillia Power Generation Corporation is announcing the retirement of Grant Hipgrave, president and CEO, effective Dec. 31, 2023.
Grant has held positions of increasing responsibility since 2006, becoming president and CEO in 2016. Since that time, he has led the corporation through a number of significant changes, including the sale of our distribution business and the expansion of our generation business.
Grant stated, “After a great deal of reflection, I have decided to retire at the end of this year. It has truly been a rewarding experience to work with the many talented staff at Orillia Power over the past 17 years.”
Greg Gee, chair of the board of Orillia Power, commented, “We are truly sorry to see Grant leave, and wish him the very best in his retirement years. Grant’s focus on safety, team building and continuous improvement of our generation assets has served the organization very well.”
Gee also reported, “The board has recently been engaged in an extensive executive search process to recruit and hire a new president and CEO for Orillia Power. I am pleased to report that Shaun C. Hinds will be joining the corporation at year end. Shaun comes to Orillia Power after more than 25 years with Ontario Power Generation, most recently being responsible for the operations and maintenance teams at 10 large hydroelectric generating stations in eastern Ontario. He has also recently managed another 12 hydroelectric stations of comparable size to those of Orillia Power.”
Hinds noted, “It is with great pleasure that I join the Orillia Power Generation team, and look forward to building upon an already great organization.”
Gee also reported that after being a member of the Orillia Power board of directors for more than 11 years, nine of those years as board chair, he will also be stepping down as of the year end.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Orillia Power. There has been considerable change and progress over the past number of years, including an expansion of our water and solar generation capacity by more than 30 per cent," said Gee. "I will definitely miss working with the many fine people on the board and staff, and wish the organization the very best in the future.”
