The Orillia Silver Band has provided a community-based British style of brass band music in Orillia and surrounding area for over 70 years.

By 1949 the Orillia Kiltie Band (formerly the Orillia Citizens Band) started to see a decline in new members, perhaps as it was comparatively easier for musicians to play for brass bands, such as the newly formed Orillia Silver Band, than to learn how to play the reed instruments of the Kiltie Band. The Orillia Kiltie Band was a prominent and a beloved presence at festivities and musical celebrations in Orillia from 1926 to 1974.

As of 1975, the Orillia Silver Band, founded by Harry Peacock in 1949, was still performing but dissolved in 1981 after the passing of bandmaster Peacock in 1976. However, the Orillia Silver Band was able to re-emerge some 20 years later with 16 original band members included in the lineup.

The band that began over 70 years ago under the direction of Harry Peacock continues to perform regularly throughout the Orillia area at events that range from their concert series held at the Orillia Opera House, to the annual Orillia Santa Claus Parade, the Highland Games, and the convocation at Lakehead University. Every summer, the Orillia Silver Band can be seen performing at parks and events.
