ORILLIA SILVER BAND

The Orillia Silver Band will celebrate its 70th anniversary with the production of a new, multi-media show, SHINE! - 70 Years of Orillia, featuring the music and stories of Orillia’s history!
There are two opportunities to check out this special show: Sunday, March 22 and Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Orillia Opera House.
The show will feature several stories from Orillia’s past and present, told by members of our community, supported by historical visuals. The band is pleased to announce that Orillia Mayor Steve Clarke will be one of the story-tellers. The story topics and story-tellers include:
Arts & Culture – Ruth Watt & Chris Newton
Mariposa Folk Festival – Mike Hill
College & University – Linda Rodenburg
Gordon Lightfoot – Steve Eyers
The Town of Champions Rises Again – Dave Town
Economy, Tourism and Main Street – Mayor Steve Clarke
Teen Town at the Pav – Chris Newton
The show will feature special musical guests, Even Steven and Lisle, as well as the Ken Atkinson Ballroom Dancers.
The stories will be accompanied by musical works specially selected for the stories. These musical treats include the First Movement from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, Make You Feel My Love by Bob Dylan, Brahms’s Academic Festival Overture, Verdi’s Anvil Chorus and more.
The band has partnered with the Orillia Museum of Art & History and Mariposa Arts Theatre to produce SHINE – 70 Years of Orillia. The band gratefully acknowledges and appreciates the show’s major sponsor, Len Skok of Forest Hill Real Estate Inc, Orillia.
Advance Tickets: $20 for adults before March 18, (then $25), $10 for students and children. Tickets are on sale now from the Opera House box office, which is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
