The City of Orillia is happy to announce that Orillia Transit teen and senior passes are now available to order or pick up for those who are eligible. The passes come into effect on March 1, 2024.

“The introduction of the new seniors' fare and complimentary teen pass initiative, as recommended by the Transit Advisory Committee, is coming into effect March 1. This move is designed to boost public transit use and promote sustainable transportation options,” said Mayor Don McIsaac. “We invite our community's seniors and teens to take advantage of these new offerings, joining us in a collective effort towards a more connected and environmentally friendly future.”

Seniors aged 65+ can enjoy the ease and convenience of the Orillia transit system for a flat rate of $2 per ride. This fare is only available when using the cOnnect pass reloadable transit card. Seniors choosing to pay cash on the bus will be subject to the full cash fare.

As part of an approved 12-month pilot program, Orillia teens aged 13 to 19 will have access to the Orillia Transit system at no cost. Teens will be required to obtain and use the cOnnect pass reloadable transit card to access free transit. All teen passes will be valid from March 1, 2024 to Feb. 28, 2025. Youth who board Orillia Transit without a valid cOnnect card teen pass will be required to pay the full cash fare.

How to Obtain and Use a Senior or Teen Pass:

Both the senior and teen passes are now available online at orillia.usetransit.com. Transit riders will be required to create an account or use an existing account to request their new pass. Birthdates will be required to confirm eligibility and riders will choose the pick-up location of their card at either Orillia City Centre (50 Andrew St. S.) or the Orillia Public Library (36 Mississaga St. W.). Passes are also available in person at Orillia City Centre or the Orillia Public Library. Assistance is available to set up an account and load the cOnnect Card at Orillia City Centre or by calling 705-325-3975.

Senior passes will need to be loaded with a dollar value, as $2 will be deducted from the card for each ride on Orillia Transit. Teen passes will be loaded with the free teen pass but will be required to be tapped on the fare terminal in the bus while boarding. Transit riders are encouraged to utilize any preloaded rides or passes prior to obtaining a new senior or teen pass. Refunds will not be available.

Although there is no cost to obtain the card, all lost or stolen senior or teen passes will be subject to a $5 replacement fee.
