There’s a new millionaire in town.
Jason Free, of Orillia, matched all seven Encore numbers in exact order in the Aug. 30 Lotto Max draw, earning him a $1-million prize.
Free, a truck driver, has been playing the lottery for about five years, and this is his first big win.
“I couldn’t wait to tell my wife,” he said in a news release issued by OLG. “I originally thought I had won $100,000 but quickly realized it was $1 million. I was left in disbelief and total shock. I told everyone I know. Everyone was so happy for us.”
Free, a father and grandfather, plans to take his family on vacation and bolster his retirement fund.
“This came at the perfect time,” he said. “Winning is surreal; it’s the best feeling in the world.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Orchard Gate Gas Bar on Atherley Road in Orillia.
