Today the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation announces the addition of two new members to the Foundation Board of Directors and the retirement of a long-serving member.
The foundation is pleased to welcome Dr. Svetlana Carrigan, Pathologist at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, and Raquel Ness, Lawyer with Ness Law and Co-Director of the Orillia Chapter of Ripple of Kindness, to serve on the Board of Directors. The new appointees were voted in at the Foundation’s June 23 Annual General Meeting.
“I am honoured to welcome these two incredibly accomplished individuals to our board of directors,” said Mark Riczu, Executive Director of the OSMH Foundation. “Both Svetlana and Raquel have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the community and each brings with them a diverse set of skills and knowledge that will enhance the work we do.”
After serving ten years, Chuck Burton, Senior Financial Consultant with the Orillia Branch of Investment Planning Counsel, retires, becoming the Foundation’s sixth Honourary Board Member. Chuck was the chair of the foundation board from 2012 to 2014 and has served on the Major Gift and Planned Giving Committees. He previously chaired and vice-chaired the Gala Committee.
“We cannot thank Chuck enough for his dedication to the Foundation over the past decade,” said Nancy Harris, Chair of the OSMH Foundation Board. “What an incredible breadth, depth, and longevity of experience, and we are most grateful for his service.”
The foundation also said goodbye to the OSMH Board of Directors Representative, Ligaya Byrch, who is moving on after serving her two-year term with the Foundation Board. During her appointment, Ligaya played an instrumental role in developing the Foundation’s strategic plan and benching marking tools. A new Hospital Representative will be selected at the Hospital’s AGM in August.
Dennis Lee, Owner and Compounding Pharmacist at Laclie Pharmacy, is also leaving the board after serving two years. Dennis has been a long-time supporter of the foundation as a golf tournament sponsor and served as vice-chair of the Golf Tournament Committee. He also contributed to the Major Gift Committee during his time as a board member.
“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Chuck, Dennis and Ligaya for their years of dedication to the foundation board,” said Riczu. “We know they will continue to be advocates for our Hospital and we are very grateful for their contributions.”
The Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors is made up of volunteers who actively support Soldiers’ through philanthropic activities. The role of the Board is to govern and oversee the affairs of the Foundation.
