Sully Burrows, a 17-year-old country singer from Parry Sound, has been added as a last-minute replacement for tonight’s New Year’s Eve celebration in downtown Barrie.
Burrows, who has reportedly been making waves in the country music scene, will perform during the 9:30 p.m. slot for the city’s Downtown Countdown, replacing three-piece Americana alt-country group The Redhill Valleys, who have had to pull out of the gig due to illness.
According to his bio, Burrows “brings a fresh yet timeless sound” to the genre, blending traditional country roots with contemporary influences.
The teen has already been collaborating with top-level producers in Nashville, where he's honing his skills and finding his unique voice.
Dubbed a “passionate storyteller,” Burrows recently co-wrote his debut song, Youth, alongside Canadian country star Owen Riegling.
The city’s free Downtown Countdown event will take place at Barrie City Hall, located at 70 Collier St., starting at 6 p.m.
In addition to the headliner Madeline Merlo and children’s performers Sonshine and Broccoli, the musical lineup will also feature local act Kyle Wauchope.
