Radiation oncologist to speak at local prostate cancer awareness meeting

Doctor will provide update on radiation treatments and how they apply to prostate cancer

Dr. Christiaan Stevens, a radiation oncologist at the Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH), Barrie, will be speaking at the next Orillia Prostate Cancer Awareness group meeting Jan. 29.

Dr. Christiaan Stevens, a radiation oncologist at the Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH), Barrie, will be speaking at the next Orillia Prostate Cancer Awareness group meeting. 

Stevens is the director and head of the radiation program at the Simcoe/Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre at  RVH. He will provide the group with an update on the various radiation treatments available now and the centre's vision for how they apply to prostate cancer. 

The meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 29, will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34, located at 215 Mississaga St. E. There is no admission fee and everyone is welcome to attend.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the speaker will begin making his presentation at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
