Today at Ramara’s Works Yard 3 location, the Township of Ramara, in partnership with Muskoka Wifi, celebrated the launch of high-speed internet with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Last month, Muskoka Wifi completed the installation of two 150-foot towers in the northern end of the township that will provide up to 50 megabits per second (Mbps) with unlimited data to 200 rural households and small businesses in the area.

“Since beginning our term on council, expanding and investing in reliable broadband services for the Township of Ramara has been one of our key strategic goals,” states Deputy Mayor Joe Gough.

“Our partnership with Muskoka Wifi in delivering reliable, high-speed broadband service is another step in reducing the digital gap and providing access to our rural community. The installation of the two 150-foot towers on Fairgrounds Road and at 7305 County Rd. 169 will provide up to 50 Mbps speed with unlimited data to over 200 rural residents in the area," he said.

Residents can call 705-795-9434, email [email protected] or visit Muskoka Wifi’s website to learn more about service availability, packages and prices.

“Ramara didn’t just help a small, local business, but also their community giving connectivity to an area that never had it before,” states William Holmes, founder and president of Muskoka Wifi. “Our mission is to provide high-quality internet service for our valued clients and go above and beyond to get people connected even in hard-to-reach areas. I want to continue our partnership with the Township of Ramara to increase connectivity and ensure that residents in the rural area have equal access.”

The Township of Ramara continues to focus on expanding high-speed internet services to households within Ramara. In 2022, through the SWIFT program, UBF program and Ramara’s enhancement projects, over 2,500 additional homes will have access to internet services that allow them to work, learn and connect at home.
