NEWS RELEASE
ROTARACT ORILLIA
*************************
Members of Rotaract Orillia, a young adult service club for those aged 18 and up, will be dressing up in costume and knocking on doors in the West Ridge area between Monarch and Diana drives this Halloween to collect non-perishable food items for donation to the Sharing Place Food Centre.
The club has also arranged a donation drop-off location at Royal LePage (19 Andrew St. N.) for those Orillia residents not located in West Ridge. Drop-offs will be accepted from Monday, Oct. 24 to Friday, Oct. 28 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
“Unfortunately, we are still a growing service club and don’t have the membership numbers we need to be canvassing more Orillia neighbourhoods for this community support initiative,” says Jeff Czetwerzuk, Rotaract Orillia president. “We chose West Ridge because it is densely populated, which allows our smaller membership to canvass the neighbourhood quickly without too much driving.”
Rotaract Orillia was born during the pandemic, and this is the second time the club has held their Trick or Eat event.
“Food security is a live, ongoing, and increasing issue in our community and we think this is an excellent way to support those in need,” said Czetwerzuk.
