Severn Township is developing a master plan for the future Coldwater Fairgrounds, and has asked the public to weigh in through an open house and online survey.

Severn Township is looking for the public to weigh in on the future of Coldwater Fairgrounds — the township's most visited park — as the community grows.

The township is in the process of creating a master plan for the space, which will guide its development over the next 10 to 15 years, and has scheduled an open house on the matter next week. A public survey has also been made available for residents to weigh in.

“We are looking at options for enhancing the recreation services and experiences available at this location. This may involve improving or adding amenities to the park, such as playground equipment, areas for wheeled activities, sport fields, or enhancing the way the park looks, or ensuring we make it as accessible as we can,” said Tracy Roxborough, Severn’s communications officer.

With the community growing, Roxborough said it’s important to make sure its spaces, like Coldwater Fairgrounds, meet the public’s needs.

“Our community is growing, and more people are calling Severn home each year, including young families, professionals, and others,” she said. “We want to ensure that we are responding to their needs when making any changes to our shared spaces.”

The open house is scheduled for Jan. 27, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Coldwater Community Centre, and the survey, which may be found here, will be available until Feb. 7.

Another public meeting will be scheduled in the future to discuss survey results and conceptual site plans for the property, Roxborough said, as part of the master plan process.
