Sledders take to the hills to celebrate winter (10 photos)

Couchiching Golf Course a popular spot for toboganning

Many families took to the great outdoors Saturday as they enjoyed the mild weather on the last weekend of the Christmas Break for school-aged kids.

At the Couchiching Golf and Country Club, there was just enough snow, coupled with some enticing ice below the surface, to make tobogganing fun for those of all ages.

Orillia's Lake Couchiching also was busy Saturday with people skating on the lake, while a whole community of ice huts has been spawned a few hundred metres from shore. Many ice anglers were trying their luck today.

Unfortunately, there is rain in the forecast today, but colder temperatures are on the way tonight.

Tomorrow looks like another good day to be outside; the forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of -4.
