Snow storm prompts closure of all public city facilities

Closure is 'for the safety of staff and patrons,' city says, noting all is programs, rentals and services at city locations have been cancelled

Due to the deteriorating weather and road conditions today (Feb. 7, 2025), the City of Orillia is closing all public facilities effective at 2 p.m. for the safety of staff and patrons.

Affected facilities include:

  • Orillia City Centre (50 Andrew St. S.)
  • Municipal Operations Centre (20 James St. W.)
  • Wastewater Treatment Centre (40 Kitchener St.)
  • Water Filtration Plant (200 Bay St.)
  • Waste Diversion Site (100 Kitchener St.)
  • Orillia Opera House (20 Mississaga St. W.)
  • Leacock Museum (50 Museum Dr.)
  • Orillia Recreation Centre (255 West St. S.)
  • Rotary Place (100 University Ave.)
  • Barnfield Point Recreation Centre (500 Atherley Rd.)

All scheduled programs, rentals, and services at these locations are cancelled for the remainder of the day.

Winter control and road maintenance staff will continue regular operations at this time.

Orillia Transit service: Orillia Transit remains operational; however, there may be delays. For more information contact TOK Transit at 705-326-9300.

Waste collection: Waste collection operations have been suspended. Residents are asked to bring in their containers and can put them out at the curb next week on Friday, Feb. 14, 2025. This includes garbage waste.

Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
