NEWS RELEASE
GEORGIAN COLLEGE

Georgian College’s Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre and Creative Nomad Studios, in partnership with the City of Orillia, are excited to host the second of six XcelerateHER Orillia events on Jan. 26.
At this event called Pitch Perfect, guest speaker Jan Bailey, the Clarity Coach, will lead an interactive workshop designed to ignite ideas and spark new ways of thinking about and executing a business pitch. Pitching to become an industry-leading entrepreneur requires authenticity, transparency and the ability to motivate and persuade. Attendees will learn how to create clear, relatable messaging and product descriptions, how to allow their personality to shine, and how to naturally story tell to convey their message.
“XcelerateHER will help address the gaps in support and resources that exist within Orillia,” said Sara Bentham, director, Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre at Georgian College. “The program helps women get inspiration for their businesses through education with peer-to-peer groups, mentoring programs, panel discussions, funding accessibility, and more.”
The series will continue to support women in improving their business pitch, developing growth plans, tapping into industry mentors, and developing partnerships with like-minded entrepreneurs over the next five months.
“XcelerateHER is an amazing opportunity for female entrepreneurs to grow, network and learn,” said Anitta Hamming, president, Creative Nomad Studios. “I’m really excited that Creative Nomad Studios has been able to build a partnership with HBEC and the City of Orillia to provide such an amazing resource at no cost. More than half of the businesses in Simcoe County identify as female-owned, and this multi-session program has been built to cater to their unique needs to succeed.”
All upcoming XcelerateHER Orillia events will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at Creative Nomad Studios (23 Mississaga St. W.) on the following dates:
- Jan. 26
- Feb. 16
- March 30
- May 18
- June 15
Space in the XcelerateHER Orillia event on Jan. 26 is limited and participation will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information and to register for this free event, please visit xcelerateherorillia.eventbrite.ca.
The XcelerateHER program, implemented through the Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre at Georgian College in partnership with Sandbox, Small Business Enterprise Centre for Barrie, Simcoe County and Orillia, and Innisfil Accelerates, has been delivered in communities across Ontario, supporting female entrepreneurs through a four-pronged approach: skills development, networking opportunities, workshops and success stories. This program features peer groups, mentorship and support.
