NEWS RELEASE
OMAH HISTORY COMMITTEE
*************************
Quilting has been a tradition in families for generations and local quilter Margaret Pomeroy can relate.
Please join her in the Community Room at the Orillia Recreation Centre at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023 as she shares her passion and all things quilts with you.
The Orillia Museum of Art and History (OMAH) History Committee celebrates the first live talk since pre-COVID and what a joy it will be to see Margaret’s cherished quilt collection and to hear her share her passion for quilts, their history and their stories. It will be great to see everyone in person after such a long hiatus.
Show your quilts
If you would like to share a quilt that is special to you, please register for the talk and send an email to Monica at [email protected]. The first three registrants to indicate their interest in sharing will be invited to bring their quilt and share its story with everyone, whatever you know about it — who made it, when, where, for whom, materials used and anything you know about the quilt pattern.
Margaret Pomeroy has lived in Orillia for over 40 years and retired from the Ontario public service over a decade ago. She volunteers with the Orillia Museum of Art and History and other local organizations. In her spare time, she quilts, collects quilting fabric, collects quilting books, enjoys her Georgian Bay cottage and plays music with a couple of local traditional folk groups.
To receive a link to the talk or any of the talks, visit www.orilliamuseum.org/11-23 or call Monica at 705-326-2159.
Admission is free. Donations to OMAH are appreciated.
