Celebrate Family Literacy Day with a unique outdoor experience hosted by the Couchiching Conservancy in partnership with the Orillia Public Library!
Join us for a special story hike through the beautiful Scout Valley, where library staff has chosen the story, Only the Trees Know by Jane Whittingham. This engaging family-friendly event blends the joy of reading with the beauty of nature and encourages families to connect with the outdoors.

Along the way, enjoy a scavenger hunt to spot signs of wildlife and identify unique natural features of the forest. Keep an eye out for animal tracks, trees, and more.
At the end of the walk, warm up at Regan House with a hot cider, a craft activity, and a chance to win a prize in our scavenger hunt draw! This event is a perfect opportunity to spend quality time with your loved ones, all while promoting literacy and environmental awareness.
Scout Valley is a natural easement with the City of Orillia, protected by the Couchiching Conservancy. This beautiful forested area provides a tranquil space for community members to explore and enjoy nature.
Passport to Nature is your invitation to explore the marvels of our natural world and community! This year-long program features guided events designed for all ages, offering free and accessible opportunities to connect with nature.
