WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Snow squall warning in effect for:

  • Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

Snow squalls continuing into Sunday.

Hazards: Locally heavy snowfall with additional accumulations of 20 to 40 cm, with higher amounts possible. Reduced visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Timing: Continuing into Sunday.

Discussion: Lake effect snow off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay will continue through the day. Local additional snowfall amounts of 20 to 40 cm are possible by Sunday, with higher amounts possible if snow squalls become stationary over one area. Snow squalls should diminish in intensity through the day Sunday. In addition, strong northwest winds will result in areas of blowing snow and significantly reduced visibility at times.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Road closures are possible. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
