Start the new year off right — donate blood

The season for giving isn't over yet

On Dec. 17, Canadian Blood Services called for more than 30,000 donors across the country to book and keep their blood donation appointments by Jan. 8.

Despite travel, family activities, and last-minute changes in routine that often interfere with plans over the holiday season, a generous crop of donors at holiday blood drives in the Barrie, Muskoka, Simcoe, Dufferin, Grey region has allowed the Canadian Blood Services to keep blood inventory levels high, making a difference for those in need of blood.

But tragic accidents and lifesaving procedures take place every day, and the need for blood is constant.

As a new year begins, Canadian Blood Services encourages you to attend an upcoming blood drive in January.

The Orillia Community Blood Drive will take place on Thursday Jan. 10 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Best Western Mariposa Inn's Hermitage Ballroom at 400 Memorial Ave., Orillia.
