They all attended Saturday’s Barrie Public Library Comic Fest at the downtown branch.
“He’s one of my favourite Batman villains,” said Adam Wilson, 31, of Barrie, dressed as Scarecrow. “I come to the library all the time. To dress up and project someone that you like … the opportunity to do this is exciting.
“I feel like I have always been into comics,” added Wilson, who says his body’s lanky frame also fits with the Scarecrow.
Emily Dall, 21, is from Kawartha Lakes and came to Comic Fest for different reasons.
“I’m into streaming and video games, all different sorts of things,” she said. “Anything to do with a big imagination, I am all over.
“It will help me start my streaming or gaming career,” said Dall, attending her first Comic Fest.
Kyle Doucet, of Brampton, went to Comic Fest with his Barrie girlfriend, and as what he calls “a scary nun,” cloaked and hooked.
“I just wanted to see all the different people and the different costumes, and what they (vendors) have for sale.”
This wasn’t his first Comic Fest, having attended Comicon in Toronto before.
Mackenzie Guppy, 16, of Barrie, came with her Giyu, Demon Slayer costume, hoping to meet some of her friends at the library.
“But I really like all that they have here — the stickers, the posters,” she said. “I came to meet some of my friends, or at least make a few new ones.”
This was her second Comic Fest at the library, and said there were more vendors at this year’s event.
Aside from comics, vendors offered jewelry, keychains, posters, books, postcards and T-shirts at Comic Fest.
