Mariposa Folk Festival launched its lineup announcements today with news that Swedish folk-pop duo First Aid Kit will perform at this summer’s festival.

Mariposa Folk Festival takes place July 5, 6 and 7, 2019, in beautiful Tudhope Park in Orillia on the shores of scenic Lake Couchiching.

First Aid Kit is renowned for rare harmonic perfection and finely-crafted songs ranging from poignantly romantic to gutsy and powerful. In recent years their material has gained a harder edge, and their song for International Women’s Day 2017, You Are the Problem Here, is a raw, all-out assault on men who sexually abuse women.

According to artistic director, Liz Scott, “This sister-fronted indie band from Sweden is known for sparkling live shows, angelic harmonies, intertwining vocals and peppy humour. They've been hitting their stride lately and getting noticed all over the world, so it's going to be lots of fun to have them grace our Friday Mariposa Main Stage.”

The three-day Mariposa Folk Festival features the best folk-roots music on the North American scene as well as story, dance and craft on more than ten stages. All categories of ticket are now on sale.

Adult weekend passes ages 25+ are available until the end of December at the special early bird price. Kids 12 and under are admitted free. Tent and RV camping is available. Many more artistic announcements will be made in the coming weeks and months.
