NEWS RELEASE
MOSAIC PRODUCTIONS

In the era of #MeToo and #TimesUp, The Vagina Monologues has never been more relevant.
The award-winning play first performed off-Broadway and in locations around the world by author Eve Ensler dives into the mystery, humour, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement in women’s experiences.
On Feb. 22, 2019, Mosaic Productions will present VDay Orillia 2019, a one night only benefit reading of The Vagina Monologues, at the Orillia Opera House.
Mosaic Productions has staged five previous sold-out performances of The Vagina Monologues, raising over $40,000 for local women’s charities.
This performance will benefit Green Haven Shelter for Women as they raise funds to build a modern and fully accessible new building. Green Haven’s services include a 24hour crisis line, residential shelter program, community outreach, transitional housing support, and child and youth services.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of The Vagina Monologues and the founding of VDay, the global activist movement to end violence against women and girls.
The New York Times called The Vagina Monologues, “probably the most important piece of political theatre of the last decade."
VDay grew out of the play which exploded onto the scene in 1998, breaking taboos about women’s sexuality and shattering silence around violence done to women and girls.
VDay Orillia is a local effort within the worldwide context of the 20th Anniversary VDay Campaign.
Tickets can be purchased at the Orillia Opera House box office, and online at Orillia Opera House website.
