The Orillia Terriers, fresh off a decisive Friday night victory in Midland, were looking to continue their winning ways on Saturday night when they hosted the Caledon Golden Hawks.

Rotary Place was packed again as more than 400 people came out to cheer on the local team. This is the second straight Saturday that the Terriers have had a huge crowd to support them.

Jason Hooper, the team's vice president, was behind the bench for the second straight game as he filled in for head coach Nick Ricca, who was serving the final game of the two-game suspension he received last Saturday when the team left the bench without the referees’ clearance after rookie Ayden Dooley scored in overtime.

Saturday night’s game against Caledon was scoreless after the first period. The Terriers out-shot the visitors 13-7, but were not able to capitalize on their only power-play opportunity.

Just 61 seconds Into the second frame, Luke Charlebois found Matthew Priest whose shot from the blueline was tipped by team captain Jacob Beard for his first goal of the season.

The Terriers outshot the Golden Hawks 14-12 in the second period and had a 1-0 lead heading into the final frame.

In the third, Corey Miller scored his fifth goal In two games, tallying a power-play goal to put the home team up 2-0. Beard set up Miller for the goal at 4:23.

Caledon would get one back midway through the frame when Dante Zucarro found the top corner, beating netminder Jason Cumbo.

But Cumbo closed the door and made 30 saves for his second straight win with his new club, helping Orillia improve to 3-0 in early Provincial Junior C Hockey League play.

The Terriers are in action twice next weekend, first on Saturday when they host the Penetang Kings at Rotary Place. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Then, on Sunday, the Terriers host the Kincardine Bulldogs at the Rama MASK. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
