There’s a new stray animal hogging all the attention of staff and volunteers at the Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS).
Collingwood’s bylaw enforcement officers picked up a small pig at the Tim Hortons on Hume Street and dropped it off at the shelter as per the town’s pound agreement with the GTHS.
Molly Freedman of the GTHS said shelter staff believe it’s a miniature pig, and they’re unsure of its sex. Since it’s a miniature pig, they do believe it’s someone’s pet.
“I don’t think we’ve ever taken in pigs before,” said Freedman. “But we are making it work.”
If you are the owner of the found pig, you can call 705-445-5204 ex 221.
According to the GTHS Facebook site, the pig will be staying at the shelter until 4 p.m. today and then it will be transferred to a local hobby farm.
