The people behind some impressive festive floats featured in this year's Santa Claus parade were recognized for their creativity and flair.
On Friday night, the Orillia District Chamber of Commerce handed out the awards in front of Fred's Tree outside the Orillia Opera House.
Winners were selected based on the number of votes they received from the chamber's volunteer judges who watched the Nov. 18 evening parade closely.
Here are the winners:.
- Santa's Choice: Elk Ridge Farm
- Best Overall: The Sunken Ship Tropical Bar and Tiki Lounge
- Local Organizations/Service Clubs: Midland District Shrine Club (1st place)
- Walking Groups/Horses: Lakehead University (1st place)
- Religious Groups: Salvation Army (1st place)
- Youth Group: Cheer Sports Sharks (1st place)
- Large Commercial:
- 1st place: TOK Transit
- 2nd place: Sharp Bus
- 3rd place: Barrie Harley-Davidson
- Small Commercial:
- 1st place: Georgian Duct Cleaning
- 2nd place: McCauley Equipment Sales
- 3rd place: Going with Gibb

This was the second year the parade was held in the evening after always being staged in the afternoon in previous years.
