The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 85 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths today's update (April 13).
There are 1,109 active, lab-confirmed cases in the region, most of which are in Simcoe County.
The health unit has reported 1,906 variant cases confirmed to date, with 553 of those cases still active.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 8,862 cases of COVID-19 with 7,399 of those cases recovered and 212 cases ending in death.
There are 42 people from Simcoe County and one person from Muskoka hospitalized with COVID-19, which includes six new hospitalizations since yesterday. Of those hospitalized, 16 are in intensive care units. Those in the ICU range in age from under 10 to in their 90s.
To date, 117,575 people in Simcoe-Muskoka region have received their first dose of a vaccination against COVID-19, which is about 18.9 per cent of the region's population.
The health unit also reports 19,405 people have received both doses of a vaccine against COVID-19.
The new cases reported in Simcoe County and Muskoka District today include (case transmission is under investigation unless otherwise specified):
- Orillia (2):Two people between 18 and 34 years old.
- Oro-Medonte (2): One youth under 18 years old and one person between 18 and 34 years old. Both cases are linked to close contact.
- Severn (1): One person between 45 and 64 years old.
- Collingwood (3): One youth under 18 and two people between 18 and 34 years old. One case is attributed to community transmission.
- Wasaga Beach (1): One person between 45 and 64 years old.
- Clearview (1): One person between 45 and 64 years old.
- Barrie (30): Five youth under 18 years old, 13 people between 18 and 34 years old, two people between 35 and 44 years old, and seven people between 45 and 64 years old, and three people between 65 and 79 years old. Three cases are linked to close contact, and one is attributed to community transmission.
- Springwater (6): Two youth under 18 years old, two people between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 45 and 64 years old, and one person between 65 and 79 years old. Three cases are linked to close contact and one is outbreak-related.
- Innisfil (11): Five youth under 18 years old, two people between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, two people between 45 and 64 years old, and one person between 65 and 79 years old. One case is attributed to community transmission, and two are linked to close contact.
- Bradford West Gwillimbury (14): Ten youth under 18 years old, two people between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, and two people between 45 and 64 years old. Two cases are attributed to community transmission and five are linked to close contact.
- Midland (1): One person between 18 and 34 years old.
- Tiny (1): One person between 35 and 44 years old.
- Essa (2): One youth under 18 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old. One case is linked to close contact.
- New Tecumseth (7): One youth under 18 years old, two people between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, one person between 45 and 64 years old, and two people between 65 and 79 years old. One case is attributed to community transmission.
- There are two new cases listed with location information pending and one in Muskoka (Gravenhurst) also included in toda'ys list.
