The Orillia Lakers U12 boys are to be congratulated on an outstanding season!
With many weekends dedicated to games and practice it's been a long season of hard work. Through the guidance of coaches Jacob Klain, Wayne Murdoch, and Rob Gordon, all of the players have developed in skills, teamwork and sportsmanship – these boys show the great character they have in sport as a result.
The Lakers completed their season with the Ontario Cup Tournament in Niagara Falls April 14 to 16. The secured a spot in the final gold medal game on Sunday with two hard-fought wins against Toronto Triple Threat (33-28) and Grimsby Grizzlies (33-32), outplaying Scarborough Blues (40-31) for a win to compete for gold.
Digging deep, they played a competitive final game against Burlington Force and walked away winning silver. Each player brought their individual skills, personality and friendship to the competition and came together to earn the silver medal! Both teams cheered loudly for each other as the medals were handed out and congratulations given to one another.
Many of the boys had never played the game before and leaned on the experienced players for guidance while working hard to grow. They all stepped up to do their part and should be proud of the level of sportsmanship and character they show at every chance.
