ORILLIA OPERA HOUSE

With years of touring across North America under their belts, Ontario band The Next Generation Leahy is returning to Orillia to share their family Christmas traditions with Opera House audiences on Dec. 12.
There is a drive and desire to create music in each of these children that’s been fostered since their earliest days. Learning fiddle, piano, and step-dancing as early as four years old, each of the Leahy children takes that tradition and finds a niche for themselves on stage.
As a result, they have become well-seasoned performers, whose shows are filled with high-energy, infectious Celtic-based music associated with their Leahy heritage.
As with all forces of nature, the music and energy created by The Next Generation Leahy simply cannot be contained. The drive to create music is powerful within each of the Leahy children. It has given rise to multi-instrumental talents, whose dynamic live performances have been described as “astounding” and “breath-taking.”
Fiddle, cello, French accordion, singing, piano, and French-Canadian step-dancing all find a voice on stage.
As might be expected at this time of year, the Leahy house is filled not only with the joys and expectations of Christmas, but also with a lot of music to celebrate the season.
It’s this excitement that will be shared with audiences, welcoming them into the celebration. Not only will audiences be treated to seasonal favourites, they’ll witness a natural talent rarely seen, especially in a hurried, scattered world.
All of this combines to create a performance that is varied, vibrant, and rare. It’s the perfect way to welcome the Christmas season.

The Box Office is open Tuesday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 11 a.m. to showtime on performance days. On Sunday and Monday performance days, the Box Office is open 2 hours prior to showtime.
