NEWS RELEASE
ORILLIA DISTRICT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
*************************
Looking outside, it may seem like summer is a long way away, but at the Orillia District Chamber of Commerce (ODCC), planning is well underway for an exciting season of waterfront festivals and events.
The ODCC is now accepting applications from vendors who are interested in participating.
The season will kick off with the Orillia In-Water Boat Show on Father’s Day weekend in June. This early-season event is a celebration of all things boating and outdoors and features in-water displays by local boat dealers, marine product demonstrations and sales, and a vendor market featuring unique items and food.
As the boating season gets into full swing, the Port of Orillia will host Christmas in June and Mardi Gras in July. These events feature costume and boat-decorating contests for guests of the port along with live music.
In August, the Waterfront Festival will feature crowd-favourite events like the Cardboard Boat Race and the dock-diving dog competition. The Waterfront Festival also features a huge vendor market, live music, and food.
On Labour Day weekend, the Pirate Party will round out the season. The Pirate Party is an annual event that began in 2018 and has exploded in popularity, featuring live pirate battle re-enactments, a historical village, a host of pirate-themed activities, music, a vendor market, and more.
The ODCC is currently accepting vendor applications for all summer events. Applications are open to retail vendors, food vendors, artisans, and businesses or organizations interested in conducting promotional activities.
Potential vendors can go to www.orillia.com/festivals-and-events for details on what to expect and links to online applications for each event. Vendors can apply online or reach out to the events department at the ODCC at [email protected] for more information.
