One of the community's most cherished fundraising events is back in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia & District.

The annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser will be taking over the lanes at Orillia Bowl on Monday, April 22, Tuesday, April 23, and Wednesday, April 24 and at Coldwater Bowling Centre on Thursday, April 25 and Friday, April 26.

“Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a pledge-based event, which is great for raising both funds and awareness about our local Big Brothers Big Sisters agency and our mentoring programs,” says Haleigh Payne, fundraising and community development coordinator for the agency.

They are offering a ‘Business Challenge’ on the Monday night and are inviting local businesses to sign up and compete against other businesses for the chance to win some great prizing options – and bragging rights! The always popular ‘Family Night’ will also be returning on Tuesday, April 23 featuring local emergency services and 89.1Max FM’s DJ Wilverine.

One hundred per cent of proceeds from all of Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraising efforts go directly towards supporting their no-cost mentoring programs that more than 270 local children and youth take part in annually. Every dollar raised helps end the wait for a child in need of a meaningful, positive mentoring relationship.

“This event is especially important for our agency right now as we currently have more than 70 children on our waitlist. We offer a variety of programs throughout our local schools and in the community but, the demand for service is higher than ever before. Events like Bowl for Kids’ Sake really help us raise the necessary awareness and funds to be able to serve the children and youth in our region,” says Payne.
