NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF ORILLIA
*************************
The City of Orillia’s waste collection contractor, Mid Ontario, has reported delays and challenges in waste collection today due to weather conditions.
Collection has not been cancelled, but trucks are running behind schedule and have not been able to pick up in some areas due to conditions.
Due to the heavy collection right after the holidays and the holiday collection schedule, if bins have not been collected by 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, residents are asked to bring in their bins to assist the city with winter control operations this evening.
Materials not picked up by 6 p.m. can be put out on the regularly scheduled collection day next week (Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025). Alternatively, residents can drop off their materials (recycling and compost) at the Waste Diversion Site (100 Kitchener St.) for free.
During the winter months, please cut a notch halfway up the snowbank facing the road. Place your waste material in the notch to assist collection crews and help avoid damage to your containers during snow removal. Please do not place your waste on top of snowbanks.
We appreciate your patience and understanding. For more information, please contact the city’s Waste Diversion Site at 705-325-3522 or email [email protected].
