Summerhill Homes’ West Shore Beach Club was recently announced as a finalist for the 2021 Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA) National Awards for Housing Excellence which recognizes the best in Canadian new homes and communities.

Previously nominated for Community of the Year at the prestigious BILD Awards in 2014, the gated West Shore Beach Club community is located just 10 minutes north of Orillia on beautiful Lake Couchiching in the Muskoka Region.

Now fully sold out, the beachfront community features a collection of only 76 fully-detached homes with access to a Marine House and a private 300-foot-long waterfront beach built by the developer specifically for West Shore residents. The lifestyle offerings on the lake are endless year-round: from canoeing to windsurfing; cross-country skiing or skating on the lake and ice fishing; playing volleyball or badminton.

“We are thrilled to have been recognized by the CHBA as a finalist for the Best Community in Canada Award,” said Summerhill Homes’ President Sal Ruscica. “West Shore was designed from the beach up with our residents in mind. The gated community brings a sense of peace while the private beachfront and marine house with exclusive access to Lake Couchiching fosters a resort-like feeling,” added Ruscica.

“Many of our homeowners are vibrant retirees who chose West Shore as their primary residence for an opportunity to enjoy a year-round quiet tranquility and outdoor lifestyle that the community offers,” said Summerhill Homes’ Marketing Director, Cathy Ruscica.

“West Shore residents with secondary homes elsewhere can feel safe knowing that when they leave, there is a close knit community they trust watching over things in their absence,” she added.

The CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence is an annual competition celebrating the best in Canadian new homes, renovations, community development and residential marketing. This year more than 730 entries of top projects from across the country were received.

A geographically-diverse expert panel of over 170 judges reviewed submissions before selecting the finalists. Awards will be presented during a virtual ceremony on May 7.
