Idyllic winter weather has been the hallmark, so far, for the Family Day weekend.
And that has prompted many families and outdoors lovers of all ages to enjoy the great outdoors.
Local toboggan hills and outdoor ice rinks and ski resorts have all been hotspots this weekend.
Sunny skies today will undoubtedly entice lots of people to head outdoors but you would be wise to bundle up as the high today will be -7 Celsius with a wind chill that will make it feel several degrees colder.
Ontario's first Family Day occurred in 2008.
The new holiday was an election promise made by then-Liberal Party leader Dalton McGuinty. Upon his re-election, the holiday was given official approval and is now marked annually on the third Monday in February.
Not every province marks Family Day. It is only observed in New Brunswick, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and in British Columbia.
Two other provinces have holidays in February: In PEI Islander Day is celebrated on the third Monday in February and in Manitoba the third Monday in February is the Louis Riel Day holiday.
