While some may not love trying to navigate city sidewalks this winter, it has been a banner season for snowshoeing.
Members of the Orillia chapter of the Ganaraska Hiking Club have been taking advantage of an "incredibly good winter for snowshoeing."
"Every time the temperature would rise and snow would melt, it seems that the next day we would get another snowfall, which means more fun breaking trail," said one of the club's organizers.
The base of local trails remains excellent and the recent snowfall helped to ensure there is a winter wonderland in the woods.
Club members have recently been enjoying treks through various tracts of the Simcoe County Forest and the Bass Lake area.
"Snowshoeing is probably the least expensive and most available winter recreational activity there is," said a club official, who invites anyone interested to join them out on the trails.
