NEWS RELEASE
YMCA OF SIMCOE/MUSKOKA

Following the recent announcement of the lifting of restrictions by the Province of Ontario, the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is preparing to welcome individuals and families back to in-person health and fitness activities as of Jan. 31, 2022.
The YMCA’s goal, says CEO Jill Tettmann, is to attract more people back to fitness and its many physical and mental health benefits, at a time when community members may feel they need a focus on overall wellness more than ever before.
“The reopening of fitness facilities will allow the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka to continue help address the many health challenges and stressors brought on by COVID-19 and the recent closures, and help our communities move towards strength and recovery,” says Tettmann.
“We know that health is so much more than muscle tone and that exercise can have tremendous benefits for our mental health. We are all looking forward to supporting new individuals and families with their health goals and to welcoming our longtime members back. We are so grateful for the loyalty and support of our communities during this challenging time for all,” says Karen Pulla, Vice President of Health, Fitness, and Aquatics.
As part of the YMCA’s overall focus on helping people of all ages feel healthy, strong, safe and included, a $0 join fee incentive is also being offered to encourage new community members to try the Y. New members have from Jan. 31 until March 14 to take advantage of the limited time offer and can visit www.JoinTheY.ca to sign up for a membership.
To support enhanced health and safety measures, as prescribed by the Province, YMCA facilities will be operating at a reduced capacity of 50 per cent, and will continue to implement stringent protocols for cleaning and physical distancing.
