Two members of the Orillia Terriers celebrate a recent victory. Last night, the visiting Terriers defeated Stayner 9-6 to grab a 3-1 series lead.

STAYNER — The Orillia McLean and Dickey Terriers won a shootout in enemy territory Thursday night, skating to a hard-fought 9-6 victory in Stayner. With the win, the Terriers have taken a 3-1 series lead over their division rivals.

Orillia started strong, getting goals from Devon Edmonds and Caden Pattenden before Stayner would cut the lead in half. However, a goal by Finn Price gave the Dogs a 3-1 lead after the first period at Stayner Memorial Arena.

Caleb Tiffin-Seminara and Lleyton McLean scored in the second period to extend the Terriers' lead to 5-1. But Stayner would not quit, replying with three of their own to cut the lead to 5-4 heading into the final stanza.

The Terriers would score four goals in the third period to secure the 9-6 victory. Seminara, with his second of the game, followed by two goals from Jordan Fuller and an empty netter by Liam Norman secured the win and a 3-1 series lead. Goalie Nathan Hunter stopped 38 shots to backstop his team to the win.

The Dogs now come home for a Saturday night contest at Rotary Place in west Orillia with a chance to wrap up the series and move on to the division finals. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The team is hoping for a packed rink for the important contest.

In the other North Carruthers semi-final series, regular season champion Alliston has a 3-0 series lead over Penetang. Game 4 in that series goes tonight in Penetang at 8 p.m.
