Colts return to the barn for training camp next week

Training camp opens next week ahead of season getting underway Sept. 20 in North Bay; London visits the BMC on Sept. 21

The Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts open training camp next week, with the regular season set to begin in mid-September. 

Training camp gets going on Tuesday, Aug. 27 with fitness testing in the morning, followed by a goalie session and practices in the afternoon from 4-7 p.m. at the Barrie Molson Centre. 

On Wednesday, Aug. 28, there will be intersquad scrimmages all day, from 9:30 a.m. until 6:15 p.m., which are free to attend and open to the public. 

The annual Blue-White game is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29.

The pre-season schedule sees the Colts travel to Port Colborne to face the Niagara IceDogs on Friday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m.

The Colts will be in Owen Sound on Sunday, Sept. 1 to meet the Attack in a 2 p.m. matinee game. The two teams will meet again on Monday, Sept. 2 in a return engagement at the Barrie Molson Centre at 6 p.m.

The Colts round out their pre-season schedule when they host the Niagara IceDogs on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m., before heading to Kitchener to take on the Rangers on Friday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The Rangers will be in Barrie on Saturday, Sept. 14 for a tilt at 7:30 p.m.

Barrie opens the OHL regular season on the road when they head up the highway to face the North Bay Battalion on Friday, Sept. 20.

The Colts' home-opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 21 when the London Knights visit the Barrie Molson Centre. 

Last season, the Colts finished out of the playoffs with a 26-38-3-1, which put them ninth place in the 10-team Eastern Conference.
