'Electrifying' games mark end of Orillia Lady Kings house-league season

Championship games and celebrations at West Orillia Sports Complex put spotlight on young athletes; coaches, sponsors lauded

The Orillia Lady Kings wrapped up their house-league season with championship games and celebration on Monday night.

The U7 Kutting Edge team defeated BMO Nesbitt Burns in the thrilling gold-medal game with a score of 6-3. Goal scorers for Kutting Edge were Blake Bomberry with two, Sydney Kennedy with two and Vera Quinn with two. Monroe MacIntosh was fantastic in net. BMO answered back with single goals by Clair Collins, Liv Davis and Logan Dowling.

The Kitchen Shop won the rousing bronze-medal game over Tatham Engineering in a close 9-7 game. Winning goal scorers included the magnificent play of Gracie Fess and Lucy Gammon both with hat tricks, Quinn Laughlin with two goals and a single by Mia Mahoney. Zoey Robinson and Claire Boles responded with hat tricks of their own for the Tatham Engineering team, while Evie added a single marker.

In the U9 division, Whelan North showed their first-class status as they battled to win the intoxicating gold medal in a 3-1 win over Millwood Logistics. Norah Whelan led the team with two goals, while Zoey Beaudin added a single. Adrew Gammon had two assists and Olivia Hopkins added another helper for the winning team. Kyp Thompson scored for Millwood on a pass from Baylee Barker.

2nd Century Source for Sports came ready to play in their exhilarating bronze-medal game against Speedy Glass winning 6-2. Dazzling goal scorers for the winning team included Maeve Runk with two and Cadence St. Denis, Natlie Brooks, Nicholl English and Olivia Maciejewski with singles. Fionna McKinney was great on defence.

In U11 action, Tryon Construction brought home the gold in a sensational 4-3 win over Champlain Ready Mix. Winning goals were scored by Addison Caldwell, Alexa Pellarin, Lauren Bomberry and Rebekah Lacroix. Assists were marked by Isabella Beaudin, Bomberry and Lacroix while Beya Beaudin was superb in net. Champlain Ready Mix didn’t let up with two goals by Brielle Hodgkinson-Armstrong, and a single by Yvonne Lee. Klara Culp and Lee both added assists.

Mid Ontario Disposal was stellar in their inspiring 4-1 bronze-medal win over Brewery Bay. Mid Ontario goal scorers included Ali Almeida with a hat trick, Arabella Edwards with a single and Violet Whelan with two assists. Brewery Bay answered with a smashing goal by Kayla Beard on an assist by Leah Van Tol.

In the U13/U15 division Strachan and Morris were sublime in their stirring 9-5 gold-medal win over The Stoutts. Chelsea Currie led the winning team goals with a hat trick. Katie Bunting and Rayne Noganosh each had two goals, and single tallies were marked by Eiley Hayes and Olive Bomberry. Assists were notched by Chloe Crittenden, who was boxing out strongly, Currie, Hayes, Buntin and Noganosh. The Stoutts answered back with goals by Ryleigh McGuire (two) and Molly Bergeron, Zoey Gauthier, and Charlotte Cronshaw with singles. Assists were noted by Charlotte Hultslander, Elyse Faulkner and Gauthier.

The electrifying bronze-medal game between Mariposa Landscaping and Atmosphere Electric saw Mariposa Landscaping put on an exquisite performance mirroring the exquisite landscaping work done by their team sponsor. The Thompson sisters (Kyah and Kaydence) led the way for their team scoring two goals each while single markers were added by Aria Dykstra and the sensational Ellie Lynch, who also marked two assists. Morgan Parnell stood tall with two assists of her own while Dykstra and Kaelyn Drennan also added helpers. Atmosphere Electric did not give up, and worked to get the job done very well just like their team sponsor. Goal scorers for Atmosphere Electric included Alex and Anna Fagan, and Isla Quinn, while assists also came from the Fagan sisters.
