Orillia golfers will soon have a new way to hit the links year-round as Anytime Golf prepares for its grand opening on Feb. 8.
The 24/7 golf simulator facility, located at 425 West St. N., Unit 4, offers a state-of-the-art indoor golf experience featuring three private bays and a vast selection of 1,263 virtual courses powered by GS Pro software.
Golfers can play courses from around the world, including local favourites like Settlers’ Ghost, Heritage Hills, and Bear Creek.
Owned and operated by Jaclyn Bucik and Derek Dean, Anytime Golf in Orillia marks the company’s second franchise location, branching off from the original store in Brantford.
The idea for the business came naturally to the two avid golfers, who wanted to bring a public indoor golf option to the community.
“It all started sitting on a couch one night, and we said, "What about opening a golf simulator?’” Bucik recalled. “In the wintertime, there’s not a lot to do, and that’s how we started talking about this idea,” Dean added.
Though the facility has been quietly open for the past few weeks, the grand opening will officially introduce Orillia’s newest golf destination to the public.
Anytime Golf is designed to cater to all skill levels and ages, whether players are seasoned golfers or just looking for a fun activity. The facility’s advanced simulators track swing data, helping golfers analyze and improve their game.
“Not only can you come here to golf, but you can also set it up as a driving range to hit golf balls and practise,” Dean said. “In Orillia, we don’t have a huge range of driving ranges or practice facilities. Now, we can offer that to our community.”
Bucik, a graduate of Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School, says local golfers are excited about the facility.
“People keep thanking us for bringing a small business to town that caters to all demographics of golfers,” she said. “The feedback has been fantastic.”
To keep golfers engaged during the off-season, Anytime Golf will host a 12-week men’s league and an eight-week ladies’ league during the winter months. Individuals can also book tee times at any hour of the day or night, with rates ranging from $20 to $44 per hour, depending on the time slot.
“We’ve actually had a lot of people golf early in the morning,” Bucik said. “It’s something we didn’t anticipate, but some people like to come before they head to work.”
With a maximum of four players per bay, the facility offers a relaxed and enjoyable setting for groups or solo players, she noted.
“For the person who can’t sleep, now they can come play golf in the night,” Dean said. “There's a really good vibe here on a Friday night, and other times when you come in, it’s super quiet and very peaceful.”
Bucik and Dean credit their partners, Landon Kerr and Tanya Dean, for their support in bringing Anytime Golf to life.
“There were a lot of long hours that Jaclyn and her partner put in,” Dean said. “Now that it’s here, we are playing golf, and people are enjoying it, it’s a thrill.”
