The McLean and Dickey Orillia Terriers played three games this past week, picking up three more wins as they beat Muskoka 6-2 on Thursday before edging out rival Stayner 2-1 on Saturday, and closing out a busy stretch with an 8-2 victory over host Penetang on Monday.
With the wins, the Terriers' impressive record in Provincial Junior Hockey League action now stands at 32-4-1 — good enough for second place in the North Carruthers Division, where Alliston is tops with a stellar 37-0-1 record.
In Muskoka, the Dogs and Bears were tied at 1-1 after the first period; Lleyton McLean tallied the Terriers' goal. In the second period, the Terriers put the game away, scoring five goals. Adian Randell, Jordan Fuller, Devon Edmonds, Caden Carroll and McLean, with his second, did the damage. Muskoka would get the only goal of the third as the visitors won 6-2. Aidan Jerry stopped 27 shots in getting the victory between the pipes.
In Orillia on Saturday, the Terriers prevailed 2-1 in a tight checking, playoff-style game with the rival third-place Siskins at Rotary Place.
Stayner scored the only goal of the first period. Orillia would tie up the game on a late power play marker by McLean in the middle frame. The third saw another power play for the Terriers and they took advantage as Caleb Tiffin-Seminara scored to give the Dogs the victory. Nathan Hunter got the win in relief of Aiden Jerry, who had to leave the game in the first period.
On Monday in Penetang, the Terriers came out strong, scoring four first-period goals to take a 4-1 lead after the first period. Scoring for the visitors were Edmonds, Josh Presley, Finn Price and Fuller.
In the second period, newcomer Hutton Burgess, with his first as a Terrier, and Presley, with his second of the game, gave the the Terriers a 6-1 lead after two periods. The third saw Price tally his second and Fuller net his second at the Terriers won 8-2. Presley led the way with two goals and five assists, while Fuller had three goals and two assists to reach the 100-point plateau with 43 goals and 57 assists. Goalie Nathan Hunter picked up the win, stopping 23 shots.
The Terriers have a busy week, playing five games starting tonight in Alliston, then Friday in Midland, before returning home for three games: Saturday against Alliston (game time is 7:30 p.m. at Rotary Place), then Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. against Penetang and finally a Family Day matinee Monday at 1 p.m. against Muskoka.
The Terriers will start the playoffs against Midland the following week. Stay tuned for game times
