The McLean and Dickey Orillia Terriers picked up two victories this past week as they defeated Huntsville 5-0 on Friday before skating to a dominant 9-1 victory on Saturday against Midland at Rotary Place.
With the wins, the Terriers improved their Provincial Junior Hockey League record to an impressive 20-3-1, good for second place behind Alliston and five points ahead of Stayner.
On Friday in Huntsville the Dogs were led by Jordon Fuller's three goals. Captain Dylan Palomaki and Evan Feltis had singles to round out the scoring. Nathan Hunter stopped 27 shots in earning his first career shutout. Dallyn Telford coached In his 250th career game that night.
On Saturday, the Terriers started out slowly and had a 1-0 lead heading in to the second period against visiting Midland.
Finn Price got the home side's opening goal. A four-goal outburst in the middle frame gave the Terriers a 5-0 lead heading in to the third period. Scoring for the Terriers were Josh Presley, Liam Norman, Evan Gliddon, with his first as a Terrier, and Price with his second.
The third period was more of the same as the Terriers exploded for four more goals to win going away. Evan Gliddon and Presley each tallied their second of the game, while Colton Dumond tallied the last two goals. Dumond went over the 100-point mark in his career (101) in his 100th game.
Devin Shoreman spoiled Aidan Jerry’s bid for a shutout, getting the lone goal for Midland.
Jordan Fuller is closing in on two Terriers records: most goals in a season (32); he has 30. And most points in a season (72) which he tied on Saturday.
This weekend the Terriers have two home games. On Saturday, they host Muskoka and Sunday Huntsville comes to town before the Christmas break. Time for both games is 7:30 p.m. at Rotary Place in west Orillia.
Orillia is hosting what it's calling a Minor Hockey Weekend for those two home games. Any local minor hockey player — from Orillia, Coldwater or Oro — wearing their team jersey will be admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.
In addition, on Dec. 22, the Terriers are hosting a Christmas food drive. Anyone who brings a non-perishable food item for The Sharing Place Food Centre will be entered into a draw for prizes. The more donations, the better the chance to win a prize.
Please come, enjoy some great hockey and help out a good cause.
