High-flying trio sparks red hot Terriers to pair of weekend wins

High-octane Terriers exploded for 23 goals to earn pair of wins, preparing for clash with first-place Alliston Friday night

The Orillia Terriers' top line of, from left, Lleyton McLean, Dylan Palomaki and Jordan Fuller, is dominating the Provincial Junior Hockey League. In Saturday's win over Huntsville, McLean set a team record with eight points, while the line combined for 18 points.

The  McLean and Dickey Terriers played two Provincial Junior Hockey League games over the weekend, exploding for 23 goals as they beat host Midland 13-3 on Friday and beat Huntsville 10-7 on Saturday on home ice.

In Midland on Friday, the Terriers dominated the Flyers, scoring six first-period goals, notching another five in the second, and adding two in the third. 

Jordan Fuller led the way with three goals, while Finn Price and Caden Carroll tallied two apiece. Aiden Randall, Dante Cugliari, Colton Dumond, Tyler Kelly, Liam Norman and Marcus Petroff all chipped in with a goal. Aidan Jerry was in net for the  win .

On Saturday at Rotary Place, the Dogs fell behind 3-1 after the first period with Liam Norman getting the only goal for the Terriers. 

In the second period the Terriers outscored Huntsville 5-2. Carroll got things started, followed by Lleyton McLean and Fuller to give the Terriers their first lead in the game.

Huntsville would score to tie the game at 4-4. Dylan Palomaki and Evan Feltis then put the home side up by two, but Huntsville would get one back at the end of the second; the Terriers had a 6-5 lead heading to the third period.

Palomaki and McLean scored early goals to stretch the advantage to three goals, but Huntsville rallied with two quick goals to get back within one. 

McLean would give the Terriers some breathing room as he got two goals, including an empty netter, to seal the victory. 

Aidan Jerry got the win in net.

The Terriers were led by their big line once again as McLean had four goals and four assists to set a record for most points in a game for the Terriers with eight points.

His linemate, Palomaki, had two goals and three assists, while Fuller chipped in with one goal and four assists for a total of 18 points for the troika on the night.

With the two wins, the Terriers improved to 16-2-1, good enough for second place in the Carruthers Division, just three points behind first place Alliston.

The Terriers clash with the first-place Hornets in Alliston on Friday and then return home to face Penetang on Saturday night at Rotary Place in west Orillia. Puck drop is 7.30 p.m.
