The Orillia Minor Lacrosse Association (OMLA) and the Coldwater Ice Wolves are teaming up this Saturday, Dec. 1, to raise money for the 2019 lacrosse season.
The Ice Wolves will be hosting the rival Muskoka Anglers, with the game set to start at 7:30 p.m. at the Coldwater Arena. Coldwater currently sits two points behind the fourth-place Anglers in the standings, and while Muskoka does lead the season series two games to one, the Ice Wolves won the last meeting 6-2 on Nov. 18.
A portion of all ticket sales will go to Orillia Minor Lacrosse to help raise money for its 2019 season. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for youth and seniors, and $20 for a family pack. (Children five and under are free.) Along with this, OMLA will be hosting a silent auction and having a 50/50 draw, so all those who attend the game will be able to bid on items and purchase tickets.
The Ice Wolves will also be launching their second annual Breast Cancer Research Jersey Auction on Saturday. For each home game in November, Coldwater wore pink jerseys during pre-game warm-up, and starting this Saturday they will be auctioning them off with all proceeds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Full details will be available at the game as well as on the Coldwater Ice Wolves’ Facebook page and website on Saturday.
It has been an up-and-down season for Coldwater, but a strong finish to its first half would be a big boost going in to Christmas. While the Ice Wolves currently sit in fifth place with an 8-9-1 record, they are 5-2 at home and play seven of their next eight games at the Coldwater Arena, so they have a good chance to gain ground on the rest of the league.
With four games left before the mid-season Christmas break, a win on Saturday would go a long way to helping them build momentum heading into the second half of the season.
