NEWS RELEASE
ORILLIA TENNIS CLUB
*************************
When you hear the term 'popsicle stick tennis 'you might think your Orillia Tennis Club has found a secret way to beat the heat while playing tennis. Perhaps you think of tennis rackets with wooden handles or you might decide those crazy tennis players are handing out popsicles in between matches.
Well, truth be told we don't have a magic answer to the heat and sugary treats are not the best way to hydrate during a match, but what we have with popsicle stick tennis is a great way to meet new members and to play with a variety of people.
How does it work? Club members drop in for tennis this Saturday, July 8 any time between 9 a.m. and noon. Every 40 minutes the players select a popsicle stick that tells the player which court they are on. The court assignments are written on the popsicle sticks so the partners and the matches are completely randomized.
In popsicle stick tennis, club members new and old meet members of the club and enjoy some good social tennis. It is drop-in tennis so its on a come when you can and stay as long as you like basis.
If we have more players than courts it doesn’t matter; everything changes every 40 minutes. Come on out this Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 23 anytime between 9 a.m. and noon to experience one of the club's finest traditions. Club memberships are still available by simply contacting the club by email
It's nice to be nice playing tennis in the Sunshine City at the Orillia Tennis Club (at Rotary Place).
