MARIPOSA YOUTH WRESTLING CLUB

On Saturday, April 27, 2019 youth from all over the province traveled to the nation's capital to compete in the Ontario Youth Wrestling Festival.
Among the competitors were 19 Mariposa Youth wrestlers from tyke to bantam who wrestled in the tournament and their hard work paid off with the following results:
Tyke
Meghan McKay and Josh Brown- Gold
Novice Division
Craig Scott, Erica Cleavley, Reese Montgomery, Sarah McKay, Nicholas Christie, and Boyd Brown- Gold
Levi Smith and Noah Lee- Silver
Daniel Hancock, Cohen Sweet- Bronze
Kids
Riann McIntosh and Mason Montgomery-Bronze
Jeb Jenkins- 4th
Bantam
Lauren Smith- Gold
Trent Sweet- Silver
Gabriel Boyer- 4th
In the team results the Kids/Novice Girls placed second and the Kids/Novice Boys placed third.
The next competition for the Mariposa wrestlers will take place at Rotary Place May 10-12, when the club hosts the Canada East Wrestling Festival.
That event will feature 400 wrestlers from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Quebec and Ontario.
Admission for the event is a $5 gate fee.
