ORILLIA CHANNEL CATS SWIM CLUB

The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently competed at Huronia Long Course Regionals held at Brock University.
Thirty-six swimmers attended the competition, posting many personal best times and improved technique. The 12-and-under age group placed second overall just behind the Barrie Trojan Swim Club.
We had a few swimmers qualify for provincial-level meets over the weekend. Anna Holton qualified for Ontario Youth Junior Championships in the 100-metre butterfly, Trenton Shepherd qualified for Provincial Festival Championships in the 100-metre breaststroke and 200-metre backstroke, and Ava Fairgrieve qualified for Provincial Festival Championships in the 200-metre butterfly.
The following swimmers also added to their list of festival-qualifying events: Brady Bell (200-metre backstroke), Jace Black (100-metre breaststroke), Anna Crawley-Blauel (400-metre freestyle and 200-metre backstroke), Cheyanne Hawrysio (200-metre backstroke) and Harrison Levene (200-metre backstroke and 200-metre individual medley).
There were five new club records set as well: Cheyanne Hawrysio (10-and-under girls 100-metre breaststroke), Brady Bell (10-and-under boys 50-metre freestyle), Jace Black (10-and-under boys 100- and 400-metre freestyle) and Harrison Levene (11/12 boys 200-metre backstroke).
The following swimmers contributed to the team’s overall results: Maelle Bouchard, Sophie Shivers, Dario Rotar, Christopher Dorevich, Everett Dorevich, Cheyanne Hawrysio, Sam Pecorella, Isabella Brown, Sophia Brown, Kaitlyn Allin, Caden Stuart, Brady Bell, Riley Shore, Anna Holton, Anna Crawley-Blauel, Fedor Radzievskii, Harrison Levene, Emma Edgerton, Rydaar Watt, Adair Wieclawek, Katie Heckendorn, Georgia Cameron, Margot Cameron, Ava Fairgrieve, Trenton Shepherd, Mila Sekleski, Lilly Edgerton, Hayden Nie, Kael Cresanto, Jace Black, Harper McGill, Niko Plett, Evangeline Cooke, Grace Hunter, Kajun Butler and Taryn Fenton.
